Burda WOF 10/06 Top #114

First - "Burda"- top done. The fit is good but the neckline went "curvy". I will make it again to see if it was something I did? I staystitched the neckline and I was very careful not to stretch it as I sewed. I'll see what happens when I make it again. Made muslin from "inexpensive" Stretch Knit.

Bradley's T-Shirt

Images - Moments in Time

Bradley's new T-shirt. Just like mine! Well almost :)

I really stretched this fabric. I made a dress, a top and now a T-shirt for Bradley. He looks so handsome :)

Vogue 8151 Top

Vogue 8151 Top, view B.(Sandra Betzina.) This is the first time I've made this pattern. The fit is great. I am very happy with it. The only thing I would change next time is lengthen the sleeves by 1". The neckline is ever so slightly curvy :( however, I do have a Wearable Muslin :)

I made View B but I used the long sleeve pattern piece for View A.

I made this top with left-over Fabric from Vogue 7055 dress ,which is also a Sandra Betzina pattern.

Burda WOF

..........From this...........
.....to this......... ...................................don't forget those Seam Allowances..............

Burda WOF (World Of Fashion)

Burda WOF Originally uploaded by Ann's Fashion Studio

I am now a Burda girl :) My magazine came in and I love it. Tracing the pattern is a little different......but once you find the lines, highlight them and trace them... Voila....done! And don't forget to add those seam allowances and hems. I used a tracing wheel and it worked great. I put my Spaceboard underneath and the perforations on the craft paper are then easy to see, and just cut the pieces out. I think I will like this magazine as the styles appear to be very stylish. There seems to be easy to make garments, like the T-shirt I've chosen, 10/06-#114, and there are also advanced.

I received a Sample issue which was 10/06 before my actual subsciption came in. That is a nice touch from the company.

Serena Halloween Costume Oct 2007

I made View "C" of Simplicity 3618.
I constructed the vest using Sandra Betzina's method in her Power Sewing Book. The pull-through method. It worked really well.
I will post pictures of Serena wearing it.

Vogue - 7947 Jacket

Someone posted this Vogue Pattern on Artisan's Square for their SWAP.....which reminded me I too have this pattern......so I thought I would make up the Jacket . (Fabricville Knit) (Corded Chocolate Faux Suede-Picture from Timmel Fabrics site)
with this brown fabric -Corded Faux Suede Chocolate - I ordered from Timmel Fabrics. I thought it might match the Rubina Rayon Knit Fabric I bought, also from Timmel Fabrics, for a top, or this Knit Print from Fabricville. I'll see when the Brown fabric comes in which one will work best. Looking at it here the Fabricville Knit seems it would work best with the brown....but..... Timmel Fabrics also has a Camel colour Faux Suede :} Might work with the Rubina Rayon .......for another jacket....... :}

Update: I received the Chocolate Faux Suede today and it is very -very nice, I love it.
It does have that corded look, like corduroy,without the raised wales, and will not be as heavy as corduroy. It will work great for the Jacket above, and it will work nicely with the print knit from Fabricville. Serena thought I bought the fabric for her......silly girl.... :}

Jalie 2444 Exercise Outfit- Top & Shorts

I made this top and shorts with "Tactel" Fabric from Timmel Fabrics .

I decided to made the top and bottom a couple of sizes bigger so they would not fit as tight as the pattern picture shows, so they are loose fitting. To take in a little of the fullness around the middle I added a seam from the under arm to the hem line. This also added a nice design effect.

(Picture taken Oct 4 2007, a beautiful fall day for a run outside)

(The bottoms are no longer "tights" like the pattern design, but "shorts".) I also added length to the shorts.

Next one I will do with contrasting colours although I do like all one colour.

I am sew very pleased with the fit and fabric used. Over all I really like the style and will continue to use this pattern, also bought at Timmel Fabrics.

Jacket - Vogue 2641

This is a very flattering Jacket. (these pictures do not seem to do this Jacket justice...it is actually a very nice "beigie" colour:) (I'll see if I can get a better pictuer) The front facing and peplum are lined with the fashion fabric, the remaining Jacket I lined with Bemberg. There are two pockets in the front and the one button closure. The inside view.

MacPhee Fleece Jacket # 420

I love MacPhee patterns. I have made this pattern over and over and never tire of it. You can make it in different colours every time and it looks like a different pattern. You can applique it, (the Maple Leaf on the back of the Jacket was appliqued), colour block it, make a full zipper front, a pull over, a wind breaker and even a Ski Jacket. This pattern is sew very versatile, like all Linda MacPhee's patterns. This jacket was a full zip front and I also embroidered the Canadian flag on the front bodice. (I didn't take a picture of the front before I sold it.)
I make Bill's Jackets with the full zipper f ront and of course with his Logo, Blackland NB :)
He doesn't like too much fuss so his jackets are usually 2 colours, black/yellow or blue/white.

Shirley's Quilt

This quilt was for Shirley when she was in the hospital. I bought the Quilt at "Winners", and made a label for the back of the quilt with her name/rose embroidery to match the flower design of the quilt.

Jalie 2445 - Pants Workout

These pants are made with lycra/cotton fabric, bought at Timmel Fabrics,
The fit is great, comfortable and best of all quick & easy to make.
**Note** When I first looked at the picture on the pattern cover, I thought the pant style would be too "low"on me ....I thought I would have to make some adjustments, but after tissue-fitting the pattern I was pleasantly surprised to see I wouldn't have to make any changes........the front, on me, is not as low as it appears on the models......Another Jalie favorite.

Pattern Description: Womens lounge wear pants.
Pattern Sizing: This pattern has 22 sizes, from childrens size 2 to 14 and womens size 4 (XS) to 22(XXL). I used the hip measurment and it turned out a little close fitting. I do like my exercise pants a little loose, so I did go up 2 sizes, from a "T" to a "V", and then I was extremely pleased with the fit, it was perfect. (The smaller size is still OK to wear, when exercising at home, the fabric still has allot of give.)
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? It looked exactly like the picture on the pattern.
Were the instructions easy to follow? It is a very simple pattern to make and the words/pictures are very easy to follow and well done. The casing is different, and I was not going to do it as instructed, but changed my mind and did take the time to make it up, and I am happy with the result.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? The style is what drew me to this pattern. The fit is extremely comfortable and very flattering. One of the best I've made and they even fit better than the expensive ready to wear.
Fabric Used: I used Cotton Lycra Jersey, 90% cotton, 10% lycra, from Timmel Fabrics, http://www.timmelfabrics.com/knits.htm It is the very best Fabric for these pants. It washes and wears extremely well, it keeps it's shape.
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: I initially thought that the pants would be too low in the waist, but once I made them they were perfect. I made absolutely no changes to this pattern.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I definetly would made these again, I've already made 2 pairs and have bought more fabric for two more pairs.I plan on making my next ones "capri" length for the warmer weather. I do highly recommend this pattern.
Conclusion For people who are frustrated and cannot seem to find that "perfect" pair of work out pants, this is definetly a must have pattern. The pants are quick and easy to make, and the fit is worth it. I am very pleased with this pattern.

Jalie - 2682 Top

This is a very comfortable Jalie top, fabric from Timmel Fabrics. It was sew easy to make. The pattern sleeve design is for long sleeves or no sleeves, I wanted a 3/4 sleeve, so I made mine 3/4 sleeves, and I am very happy with the look. The bodice / neckline was a very different technique but if you trust and just do as the instructions say, it actually does work out. The colour blocking on the bodice was initially an"oops", but I like it that way, so I did the back to match it too. I will be making this top again.
Pattern Review:
Pattern Description:
V- Neck Top, with / without zipper. Raised neckline, with/without sleeves.
Pattern Sizing: This pattern has 27 sizes. Great for mother - daughter.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? The top looks exactly like the picture on the pattern.
*** I should also mention, pattern piece B - Front Bodice, view B, no zipper, has to be cut out x2, Front bodice is doubled. I assumed one piece would end up as the inside and the other the outside of the garment. So I decided I would cut the one piece out of a plain black knit and the other one out of a floral knit, and this would make a nice contrast. To my surprise when I sewed them as instructed and turned them, I had the black knit on the right side (in and out) and the floral on the left (in and out)............ I actually really like the Top like that, so I blocked the back bodice to match the front.
Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions were very easy. The technique to sew the neckline / front bodice is somewhat different, however it's just a matter reading and doing as instructed and it works out.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the style. The fit is very flattering. The neckline is low, but I wear a tank underneath.
Fabric Used: Black and white floral knit.
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: The only design change I made was: I made 3/4 length sleeves instead of long sleeves, (or no sleeves), and I shortened the top by 2 1/4".
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I definetely will sew it again, and I definetely recommend this pattern.
Conclusion Great pattern, wonderful fit, easy and quick to sew.
