........it's not done yet...but almost.......
It's that work thing getting in the way again...
It's that work thing getting in the way again...
In April 08 I had placed an order for quite a few Neue Mode patterns, from SewingPatterns.com, including this 22471 pattern. When I received my order, it was missing and they couldn't supply it anymore, at that time.
I kept looking. It was now
It's similar to Burda, where you have to add the seam allowances, the instructions are great and I haven't encountered any problems so far with the pattern it self................my iron however ~ is a different story.
I'm having the same problem with my Rowenta as Mary Beth (Thank you Mary Beth for the information :) and it was most frustrating when working with my fabric, satin back crepe, (red)!a color I never wear but absolutely love in this dress.
I'm blaming my dress not being finished on my iron :) I almost hated ironing the seams and must admit tried not to......of course I didn't follow through on that!
Even though I'm not sewing much and posting myself, I am trying to keep up with all your posts. It's great to see what you all have been sewing.
Hope you all have a wonderful week-end.
Take Care

Really, you MUST quit working to make time for sewing. I mean, what is more important! Ha!
That's going to be a great dress.
I know how it feels to be almost-almost there. We're all looking forward to seeing you in it, so: rah, rah, Ann, persevere!
I love the neckline on the red dress! I have never used a neue mode pattern. You have me curious!
That is such a beautiful dress!
This is going to be a gorgeous dress. So elegant, both the long and short versions.
It will look lovely when done- and you will get it there. Maybe aim for Valentine's day?
I know what you mean about not wanting to use a problem iron. Now I am off to see what the problem is on Mary Beth's blog.
I totally identify with that feeling - you decide you want something then are told you can't have it, so it becomes a complete obsession to track down ..... you HAVE to have it. I am so pleased you got your pattern - it looks like a really great dress.
Ann .- I'm looking forward to seeing the finished garment. Red and simple, is a winner.
Love the Princess Di illustration! Me too, glad you found your pattern. Hang in there!
As soon as I saw the pattern cover, I though, "Hey, it's Princess Di!" I see Lindsay noticed it too.
What a great, classic dress!
Oh Ann - I had a disastrous relationship with a Rowenta Iron....it was billed as the "iron to beat all irons"! It was a story of sheer horror....the iron started spitting on one of my white dresses and stained and spotted it - silk "rings" when it is spotted like this. I had to totally re-cut the skirt. My client never knew, but my stomach was in the basement the whole time. Ever since then I've done gravity feed or boiler and never had a moment's fear. However they are more expensive.
I feel your pain - about the iron!!! Needless to say I'm not a fan of the Rowenta iron
Ann,I'm so glad you got the pattern. It is so you! And yes it definitely looks like Princess Diana. My Rowenta iron is the pits too. I can say that now that I'm no longer working at
Fabricville where I bought it.I'm on my second one. the first had to be replaced .It leaked like a sieve. This one won't steam unless it's on the highest setting and I push the burst of steam button.Rrrrrrh!
I can see why you became obsessed by that pattern. It is a classic fitted sheath dress but the neckline is a bit unusual. I have a bunch of Neue Modep atterns and the ones I have made have turned out well. I was bummed when I heard they were going out of business. I can't wait to see the finished dress.
Oh, a red dress! It will be a treat to see it when it is finished.
That's a lovely dress! Can't wait to see the finished product!
Ann, looks like the dress will be great. I have some red fabric too, bought to make myself a dress but never found inspiration for it. You say the pattern you have is like Burda, you have to add seam allowances, but I thought all patterns work the same way. Do you know patterns that having seam allowances? I hope you find inspiration to finish it and show it to all.
what a beautiful pattern. i cant wait to see the finish dress. good luck!! :)
So glad to have found your blog, and thanks for leaving a comment on mine. This dress is going to be fabulous and I'll be following along.
OOHHH - Why do I have to see posts like this? I always liked Princess Di and thought she had such a great sense of style. You will have to let us know what you think of the pattern, the fit, etc.
So I'm wondering...have you made any progress on the dress? It sounds like an amazing dress and I'm waiting impatiently :) for the great reveal!!!
Hi! Thanks for your lovely comments, they really make my day!
Jeans, wow, clever you. They look gorgeous, and I'm loving the darker denim nowadays too...
