True or False....12 mins & 50 secs to make a pair of jeans?
Those who read my blog probably know that I love instructional videos :) and
finding good sewing information sites. There is allot of talk on blogs lately on making jeans. How appropriate, I came across this video on YouTube.
Now I know I've seen this years ago..... and many of you also may have seen it on the show "How it's Made".
I think it's so interesting. This company makes 1500 pairs of jeans a day. ....and it's True.....a pair of jeans takes them.............12 minutes and 50 secs............
Kathleen Fasanella had an interesting post on this subject on March 29th. She said industry folks don't count the time laying out, cutting, pressing and moving partial units around the factory floor in their "sewing" time. It's just the time under the needle. Home sewers count the time from pattern to final press.
We're slow, just not that slow. Fascinating video - I'd never seen it before. Thanks for sharing.

It really takes out all the romantic aspect of sewing. To much speed, to many machines... still fascinating.
Yup, a friend of mine used to work for 'Levis' - I think she told me it actually took a bit LESS than 12 minutes ! Can you imagine ?
Hi Ann, this is a funny finding, sometimes I wish I could be as fast as those machines :)Hope you and your family are doing well :)
We should have such speed!
Thank you for sharing that! I found it fascinating!
Good Lord! I had no idea!!!! Thanks for sharing this video Ann!
wow! i watch it without a blink of my eyes. That is absolutely amazing. Thanx for sharing. I'm going to find out more vids :)
OMG! What a production. My production time is several hours. I wouldn't last a day. lol
I think it helps if people are giving you just pieces to put together, and you do the same thing ad nauseum. I'd be bored witless.
